June 27 | 11 AM – 5 PM

11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Erin Madsen – Pre-Pointe Training
The session will give insight into pre-pointe training and how we as teachers can change the outcome for our dancers. We will look at when to put students on pointe, but also what we need to do before this decision to ensure their success. We will focus on alignment and why it is so crucial to establish correct alignment early.

2:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Carrie Robins
Flipping into Memory Retention: Are you feeling like your dancers are coming to class unprepared?  Or they never seem to remember choreography and/or exercises from week to week?  This session will discuss the strategy of an innovative teaching method called flipped learning to help improve your dancer’s memory retention.
Toolkit for Choreography Do you find choreography challenging?  Do you find creating clear concepts or characters tricky?  Do you find creating movement for the competition stage difficult?  This session will focus on straightforward strategies to create inspiration for movement, concepts and storytelling.  As well as share some tips for what makes a great competition routine from the judges table.
Focus on Feet: This session focuses on all things feet!  A common theme this competition season this year is use of feet across genres.  We will focus on how to increase your dancers awareness of their use of feet via anatomical knowledge, strength training and technical development in everything from a classic jazz strut to soaring ballet grands jete.

June 28 | 11 AM – 4 PM

11:00 AM – 1:00 PM: Erin Madsen – Integration of Conditioning & Ballet Foundations (ages 8–12)
The anatomy of the foot and finding true balance and support, as well as some of the pre-point conditioning in the one-point program. Session two will focus on how to integrate conditioning in pre-teen ballet classes. This is something I’m very passionate about and I use in all my classes, from the most beginner classes through the most advanced. It is important to make it a part of everyday training.
